Depois de ter sido abalada por enormes escândalos pela falta de diversidade dos seus membros, a Hollywood Foreign Press Association, em clara remodelação e renovação, realizou de forma discreta e sem transmissão televisiva a entrega dos 79º Golden Globe Awards.
“Power of the Dog” e “West Side Story” venceram na vertente Cinema, respetivamente em drama e comédia/musica, enquanto “Succession” e “Hacks” foram as preferidas na Televisão.
Jane Campion (The Power of the Dog) foi a melhor realizadora, enquanto Kenneth Branagh conquistou o prémio de argumento por “Belfast”. Nas interpretações, Will Smith (King Richard) e Nicole Kidman (Being the Ricardos) venceram nos dramas, enquanto Rachel Zegler (West Side Story) e Andrew Garfield (Tick, Tick … Boom!) foram distinguidos na categoria musical/comédia.
De resto, “Drive My Car” mostrou mais uma vez a sua força ao conquistar o prémio de Melhor Filme Estrangeiro.
