Como se esperava, “Nomadland” foi o grande vencedor da 93ª edição dos Oscars, prémios entregues na noite passada numa cerimónia especial devido à pandemia. Vencedor da categoria de Melhor Filme, o filme arrecadou ainda o prémio de melhor realização (Chloé Zhao), mas perdeu uma estatueta que se achava segura, a de melhor fotografia, onde foi distinguido o trabalho de Erik Messerschmidt (Mank).
“Mank” era mesmo o mais nomeado, com dez indicações, mas arrecadaria apenas mais um prémio, destinado ao design de produção.
Nas interpretações, meias surpresas, já que se afiguravam mudanças com as transformações operadas nos últimos anos no que diz respeito à diversidade, mas a verdade é que os Oscars mostraram continuar a serem os Oscars, vencendo as categorias mais desejadas, de melhor ator e melhor atriz, dois veteranos: Anthony Hopkins (The Father) e Frances McDormand (Nomadland).
Nos secundários, triunfou “sangue novo”, com as distinções a penderem para Daniel Kaluuya (Judas and the Black Messiah) e Yuh-jung Youn (Minari).
De resto, “Soul” foi a melhor animação, “Another Round” o melhor filme internacional e “My Octopus Teacher” o melhor documentário.
A Netflix levou para casa 7 estatuetas no total, superando todos os outros estúdios, isto depois de ter obtido um recorde de 36 nomeações
Ao contrário de outras premiações durante a pandemia COVID-19, a maior noite de Hollywood foi realizada pessoalmente e transmitida ao vivo pela ABC no Dolby Theatre e na Union Station em Los Angeles.
