A Academia de Artes e Ciências Cinematográficas anunciou há momentos a lista de pré-selecionados que passam para uma segunda fase da votação em 9 categorias dos Oscars.
Portugal e o Brasil tinham esperanças na corrida ao Oscar de Melhor Filme Internacional, com “Vitalina Varela” e “Babenco” a representarem os dois países. Nenhum deles passou à segunda fase.
