Foram divulgados os vencedores dos Gotham Awards de 2020, selecionados por críticos de cinema, jornalistas, programadores de festivais e curadores. Numa edição 2020 histórica, pois todos os filmes nomeados na categoria de melhor filme eram assinados por mulheres, acabou por levar a melhor “Nomadland” de Chloe Zao.
“Time” foi o melhor documentário, “Identifying Features” o melhor filme estrangeiro, enquanto “The Forty-Year-Old Version,” de Radha Blank e “Fourteen,” de Dan Sallitt, surgiram como vencedores da categoria de argumento. Nos atores, uma meia surpresa, a vitória de Riz Ahmed por “Sound of Metal”, e uma surpresa completa: o triunfo de Nicole Beharie pela sua prestação em “Miss Juneteenth”.
Destaque ainda para as vitórias de “Watchmen” e “I May Destroy You” no campo das séries.
