Realizou-se esta noite (madrugada em Portugal) a 65ª edição dos Emmy Awards, os prémios mais importantes da televisão norte-americana, e que distinguem os melhores do pequeno ecrã.
Na categoria de melhor série foram distinguidas «Modern Family» (Uma Familia muito Moderna) e Breaking Bad, como melhores em comédia e drama respetivamente.
Outro dos grandes vencedores da noite foi Behind the Candelabra (Por Detrás do Candelabro), telefilme da HBO que estreou nas salas nacionais na passada quinta-feira e que conquistou os prémios: Melhor Telefilme, Melhor Actor para Michael Douglas e Melhor Realizador para Steven Soderberg. Por Detrás do Candelabro acabaria assim por derrotar The Bible, a minissérie protagonizada pelo ator português Diogo Morgado.
Jim Parson por The Big Bang Theory e Julia Louis Dreyfus por Veep foram distinguidos como melhores atores de comédia. Na categoria de Drama, os prémios couberam a Jeff Daniels por The Newsroom e Claire Danes por Homeland.
