A Academia de Artes e Ciências Cinematográficas anunciou hoje os filmes elegíveis para consideração nas categorias de animação, documentário e filme internacional para a 93.ª edição dos Oscar®.
Assim, 27 longas-metragens estão na corrida ao Oscar de melhor filme de animação. Alguns dos filmes ainda não tiveram o lançamento exigido e devem cumprir esse requisito e cumprir todas as outras regras de qualificação da categoria para avançar no processo de votação. Para determinar os cinco nomeados finais, os membros do ramo de curtas e longas-metragens são automaticamente elegíveis para votar na categoria. Todos os outros membros são convidados a optar por participar na votação, mas devem atender a um requisito mínimo de visualização dos filmes para serem elegíveis para votar na categoria.
Nas longas-metragens documentais, estão 238 filmes a concurso, mas alguns deles têm ainda de cumprir as exigências pedidas no regulamento para poderem continuar na corrida às nomeações finais. Nesta categoria, os documentários que ganharam um prémio, foram programados em festivais de cinema certificados, ou ainda submetidos na categoria de melhor filme internacional estão qualificados para o concurso. Tal como nas longas-metragens de animação, os filmes inscritos nesta categoria podem qualificar-se para os Oscars noutras categorias, incluindo a de Melhor Filme. Os membros do ramo do documentário votam para determinar a lista de candidatos e os nomeados. Uma lista de 15 filmes será anunciada na terça-feira, 9 de fevereiro de 2021.
Finalmente, 93 países submeteram filmes para consideração na categoria de melhor filme internacional. Os membros da Academia de todos os ramos são convidados a participar na ronda preliminar da votação, mas devem atender a um requisito mínimo de visualização dos filmes para serem elegíveis para votar. A lista de 15 filmes pré-selecionados da segunda fase será anunciada na terça-feira, 9 de fevereiro de 2021.
