Foram finalmente anunciados os nomeados aos novíssimos Prémios do Cinema Australiano (Samsung AACTA Awards), que vêm assim substituir os habituais Prémios AFI, entregues pelo Instituto de Cinema Australiano.
A honra de ser o mais nomeado nesta primeira edição com a nova organização e estrutura coube a «The Hunter», um filme protagonizado por Willem Dafoe que passou – entre outros festivais – por Toronto. De resto, destaque para «Snowtown», que deixou a sua marca em Cannes, «Red Dog», filme sensação no box-office australiano, «Oranges and Sunshine» (quem em Portugal foi lançado directamente para vídeo) e «The Eye of The Storm», um regresso em força de Fred Schepisi (que recentemente foi galardoado no Festival de Roma).
De notar que o grande vencedor da última edição destes prémios, o brilhante «Animal Kingdom», nunca viu a luz do dia em Portugal, algo bizarro e quase sobrenatural quando tanta obra inferior povoa os nossos cinemas e até com fraquíssimos resultados de bilheteira (o filme contou mesmo com uma nomeação aos Óscares). Esperemos que este ano (e no próximo) as coisas sejam diferente, ainda que não seja um bom indicador não ter estreado nos cinemas nenhuma das obras já citadas.
