O Slamdance Film Festival prepara o seu regresso a Los Angeles já no próximo mês e hoje divulgou a sua programação, que terá a sua vertente habitual presencial de 19 e 25 de fevereiro de 2026, além da online, de 24 de fevereiro a 6 de março, no Slamdance Channel.
Com cerca de 141 filmes selecionados, incluindo 50 estreias mundiais, oriundos de mais de 50 países, escolhidos a partir de 10 mil submissões, Slamdance apresenta na sua secção principal e competitiva apenas primeiras obras, sem distribuição nos Estados Unidos, e com orçamentos inferiores a 1 milhão de dólares.
Para o cofundador Peter Baxter, o certame mantém-se como um espaço essencial para novos cineastas num momento de incerteza para a indústria, apostando numa programação gratuita para profissionais e no reforço de uma comunidade criativa de alcance global.
Criado em 1995 como um gesto de rutura protagonizado por cineastas recusados na programação do Festival de Sundance, Slamdance foi-se afirmando, ao longo de três décadas, não com o rótulo redutor de “Sundance dos pobres”, mas como um espaço de descoberta, experimentação e risco artístico.
A mudança para Los Angeles, em 2025, assinalou uma nova fase desse percurso, sem nunca abdicar da independência artística acima da lógica de mercado.
