O filme “The Landscape And The Fury“, que se centra nos migrantes da região fronteiriça entre a Bósnia e a Croácia, arrecadou o grande prémio do júri do festival suíço de documentários Visions du Réel.
A última longa-metragem da realizadora suíça Nicole Vögele, que teve a sua estreia mundial na competição internacional do festival, cruza os percursos de especialistas em desminagem, famílias migrantes e habitantes locais, revelando as feridas da guerra dos anos 90 e as dos refugiados de hoje.
O prémio especial do júri foi atribuído a “Rising Up At Night“, de Nelson Makengo. Retrato cuidado e incisivo dos problemas e sonhos dos residentes de Kinshasa, fustigados pela violência, superstição e constantes faltas de eletricidade, “Tongo Saa” no nome original é uma curiosa incursão do congolês Nelson Makengo sobre como a ausência de “luz” impacta no dia a dia a capital e os seus 17 milhões de habitantes.
Na competição Burning Lights, o artista palestiniano Kamal Aljafari ganhou o grande prémio do júri com “A Fidai Film“, que recupera imagens da Palestina, outrora apreendidas durante a invasão do Líbano em 1982. Já “Brunaupark“, de Felix Hergert e Dominik Zietlow, ganhou o grande prémio do júri na competição nacional do festival para documentários suíços. O filme retrata os moradores de um edifício em Zurique que contestam o seu despejo.
O Visions du Réel decorreu de 12 a 21 de abril em Nyon, na Suíça.
Nicole Vögele’s The Landscape And The Fury was awarded the $22,000 grand jury prize at the Swiss documentary festival Visions du Réel today (April 19).
The Swiss director’s latest feature, which world premiered in the international competition at the festival, centres around migrants at the Bosnian-Croatian border region.
A special jury prize of $11,000 was presented to Nelson Makengo’s Rising Up At Night about a power plant in the Congo which causes a severe blackout, affecting 17 million people. The documentary had its world premiere in Berlinale Panorama in February.
The international jury was comprised of former Berlinale and Locarno festival director Carlo Chatrian; filmmaker Carmen Jaquier and Tunisian producer Dora Bouchoucha.
In the Burning Lights competition, Palestinian artist Kamal Aljafari won the grand jury prize for A Fidai Film which reclaims images from Palestine once seized during the 1982 Lebanon invasion.
Felix Hergert and Dominik Zietlow’s Brunaupark scooped the $16,500, grand jury prize in the festival’s national competition for Swiss documentaries.The film portrays the residents of a building in Zurich who are contesting their eviction.
Visions du Réel runs from April 12-21 in Nyon in Switzerland.
