Os novos filmes de Asghar Farhadi (Parallel Tales), Pedro Almodóvar (Bitter Christmas), Paweł Pawlikowski (Fatherland), Hirokazu Kore-eda (Sheep in the Box ) e Ryusuke Hamaguchi (All of a Sudden) vão estar na competição à Palma de Ouro do próximo Festival de Cannes, certame que decorre de 12 a 23 de maio e que apresentou hoje vários títulos da sua seleção oficial.A eles juntam-se Andrey Zvyagintsev (Minotaur), Lukas Dhont (Coward), Marie Kreutzer (Gentle Monster ) e Cristian Mungiu (Fjord ).
Neste momento, Ira Sachs poderá ser o único realizador norte-americano em competição com The Man I Love (2026), protagonizado por Rami Malek.
A organização, liderada por Thierry Frémaux, recebeu um total de 2.491 filmes de 141 países, um aumento significativo face ao ano anterior.
Não é apenas a competição à Palma de Ouro que reúne um forte conjunto de autores, com nomes como Kiyoshi Kurosawa (Kokurojo: The Samurai and the Prisoner ) na secção Cannes Premiere, Steven Soderbergh (John Lennon: The Last Interview ) e Ron Howard (Avedon ) em sessões especiais, Nicolas Winding Refn (Her Private Hell ) fora de competição e Bertrand Mandico (Roma Elastica ) e Quentin Dupieux (Full Phil ) nas sessões da meia-noite.
Recorde-se que La Vénus électrique (2026), de Pierre Salvadori, abre o festival. A presidência do júri à Palma de Ouro é liderada por Park Chan-wook.
