Foi uma noite sem surpresas, pelo menos até Bong Joon-ho ganhar o Oscar de melhor realizador (Sam Mendes era o favorito). A partir daí, a noite dos 92ª edição dos Oscars tornou-se histórica.
O sul-coreano Parasite foi mesmo o grande vencedor da noite ao arrecadar os principais prémios: melhor filme, melhor realizador e melhor argumento original. A estes prémios, o filme juntou ainda o de melhor filme internacional. Foi a primeira vez que um filme em lingua não-inglesa foi considerado o melhor filme nos Oscars.
Nas interpretações, Joaquin Phoenix (Joker) foi o melhor ator; Renée Zellweger (Judy) a melhor atriz; Laura Dern (Marriage Story) a melhor atriz secundária; e Brad Pitt (Era uma vez…em Hollywood) o melhor ator secundário.
American Factory foi o melhor documentário; Toy Story a melhor animação; e Jojo Rabbit venceu a categoria de melhor argumento adaptado.
Nos ditos prémios técnicos, Ford V Ferrari arrecadou duas distinções (Mistura de Som e Montagem) e 1917 outras tantas (cinematografia; efeitos visuais).
