Surpresa em Veneza. O filme “L’Événement” (Happening), de Audrey Diwan, venceu o Leão de Ouro. O drama sobre uma jovem que decide fazer um aborto para terminar os estudos e escapar ao destino social da sua família proletária, na França dos anos 1960, conquistou o principal prémio em Veneza. Segundo o presidente do júri, Bong Joon Ho, a decisão foi unânime.
Visivelmente emocionada em palco, Audrey Diwan agradeceu em palco a inúmeras figuras, mas destacou a atriz principal: “Anamaria Vartolomei, tu és o filme“.
Quanto a outros destaques nos premiados, Jane Campion foi a melhor realizadora, Penélope Cruz a melhor atriz e John Arcilla o melhor ator. “The Hand of God” de Paolo Sorrentino ganhou o Grande Prémio do Público.
