Depois de esta madrugada (em Portugal) terem surgido os vencedores aos Gotham Awards, eis que surgem os nomeados ao Independent Spirit Awards, o mais importante prémio do calendário do cinema independente. A destacar a liderança de nomeações de «The Artist» e «Take Shelter», dois filmes ainda por estrear comercialmente em Portugal e que também detém bastante força para uma eventual nomeação aos Óscares.
De notar ainda que «Beginners» e «The Descendents» mantém a rota de nomeações nestas premiações mais indies, estando ambos nomeados para Melhor Filme (tal como sucedeu nos Gotham Awards).
