A revista Sight & Sound, publicada pelo British Film Institute, divulgou a sua lista dos melhores 20 filmes do ano. A liderar o top encontramos Boyhood, de Richard Linklater, sendo seguido por Adieu au langage, o mais recente filme de Jean-Luc Godard. No terceiro posto ex-aequo surgem Leviathan, de Andrey Zvyagintsev, e Cavalo Dinheiro, de Pedro Costa.
Destaque ainda para a presença de The Look of Silence no 18º posto. Recorde-se que o filme anterior do cineasta, The Act of Killing, foi o escolhido como o melhor em 2013 pela publicação.
